About Windshield Estimate
Windshield Estimate is a free quote tool that helps drivers see typical windshield replacement pricing in their area before they ever pick up the phone. We're not an auto-glass shop. We connect drivers with local shops in the KC metro that actually perform the work.
Why we exist
Most drivers calling around for windshield quotes get one of two experiences: a price pulled out of thin air by whoever answers the phone, or an aggressive bait-and-switch where the "$200" quote becomes $600 once the technician sees the vehicle. Both waste time. We built a pricing tool driven by your actual VIN, glass type, and damage so the range you see online matches the bill you pay.
How we make money
Partner shops pay us when a lead they receive turns into a booking. We do not charge drivers anything to use the estimator, and there is no obligation to book. We do not mark up the shop's quote — the shop sets the final price, not us.
Because we are paid only when leads convert, we have a strong incentive to send shops good leads: real drivers with real damage, accurate vehicle info, and clear intent. The estimator's VIN decode and validation rules are designed for that.
How we choose partner shops
Every shop in our network goes through a screening pass: business license verification, insurance certificate review, and a check for an active warranty policy on glass and labor. We do not list shops with active license suspensions, and we drop shops that drop below a 4-star average across at least 10 customer reviews. See how we vet shops.
Where we work
We launched in the Kansas City metro because we know the market firsthand. All 10 of the cities we cover are listed on the by-city page, with neighborhood-level ZIP coverage. As we sign operators in additional regions, we expand coverage city by city.
Owner-operated, independent
Windshield Estimate is independent — not part of a national chain, not owned by an insurer, not white-labeled for any single shop. The aggregator brand matters: drivers get one neutral place to compare local shops without each shop trying to bias the result.
